Nordis Meinke, 84
Nordis Meinke, 84, of Webster, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at the Northfield Hospital Long Term Care Center in Northfield.
Funeral services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Webster at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, with the Rev. Harold Schoubye officiating.
Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation was held at the Boldt Funeral Home in Faribault from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and also at the church for one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Nordis Jeanette, the daughter of Joe and Lillian (Thompson) Docken, was born on September 7, 1923, in Webster Township, Rice County. She graduated from Northfield High School in 1941. On November 17, 1944, she married Walbert Meinke at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lakeville. During the late 1930s and '40s, Nordis worked at Tallman's Grocery in Webster and moved to the farm in 1951 with her husband and son, Robert. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, tending flowers (purple and red geraniums), watching the MN Twins, embroidering dishtowels, tablecloths, pillow cases and cross-stitching. She raised calves and enjoyed milking cows. Nordis was close to family and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed making cookies and assorted baked goods.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Robert (Stephanie), Bloomington; two grandchildren, Matthew (Molly) Meinke, Apple Valley, and Katie Meinke, Bloomington; a brother, Joe (Lorna) Docken, Webster; a sister, JoAnn Meinke, Webster; nieces, nephews and cousins; an uncle, Loyal Thompson, Minneapolis; and a sister-in-law, Olinda Degen, Faribault.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jerome Docken; brother-in-law, Richard Meinke; nieces, Sandra Meinke and Shirley Bosshardt; and a nephew, Edgar Meinke, Jr.
