Not much of a choice...

Whether it’s Facebook, Twitter, the comments section on news websites or any other form of social media, it’s becoming impossible to escape the rhetoric of this year’s Presidential campaign.

The arguments for or against Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump appear in your timeline, on the radio, on your computer screens or on the pages of magazines and newspapers.

Unfortunately, little of what we’ve been seeing in recent weeks makes us eager to vote for either of the two major candidates. Instead, we’re being told that the other candidate is a horrible person, and a litany of reasons why that is so. We’re told we need to vote for Candidate A because Candidate B is corrupt, is wrong on the issues, will ruin our nation or has no feasible plans. Its not so much that the candidates are campaigning for president, but that they’re campaigning against their opponent.

And the visuals… Every anti-Trump Facebook posting or Hilary-bashing link has an unflattering photo of the candidate, just to make sure you realize that they have no appeal.

I’d like someone to give me a reason to vote for them…. and not some imaginary reason that they say they’re going to do, when you know that it’s not feasible, not practical or not legal. I want my next president to tell me how they’re going to improve the economy, improve race relations, strengthen our defense and accomplish other important tasks WITHOUT at the same time saying how their opponent will do everything wrong and ruin the economy, worsen race relations, weaken our defense and ruin every other aspect of our lives.

So far, I haven’t been wowed by any candidate. And judging by what I’ve seen and heard, I don’t expect to be wowed any time soon.
