NP City Council reorganizes for 2013
The New Prague City Council reorganized for 2013 on Tuesday, Jan. 8, with the oath of office taken by three members. New council member Pat Scripture joined council member Mark Bartusek and Mayor Chuck Nickolay, who are both beginning their second terms. All three were voted into office in the November elections. The council also unanimously made its 2013 appointments. Council members appointed to the various boards and commissions were Nickolay to the Utility Commission, New Prague Area Community Center Board and Economic Development Authority (EDA); Scripture to the EDA and the Joint Powers for the city and New Prague Area School District; Dave Bruzek to the Park Board and Cedar Lake Sanitary District; Bartusek to the Planning Commission and Ambulance Advisory Committee; and Shawn Ryan to the Golf Board and the Scott County Transit Review Board. Scott J. Riggs of Kennedy & Graven was named city attorney and Bartusek was named the council vice president. City personnel were re-appointed including City Administrator Mike Johnson, Police Chief Mark Vosejpka, Planning Director Ken Ondich, Administrative Services Director Patty Solheid and Fire Chief Jerry Novak, dependent on the election by members of the New Prague Fire Department, which was also meeting that night. Official depositories are Roundbank of New Prague, State Bank of New Prague, US Bank of New Prague, Wells Fargo Bank of New Prague and Wells Fargo Advisors of New Prague. The New Prague Times was designated the official newspaper. Named City Engineer and Municipal State Aid Street Engineer was Chris Cavett of Short Elliott Hendrickson (S.E.H.) Inc., City Financial Advisor was Terri Heuton of Springsted, Inc. and City Bond Counsel was John Utley of Kennedy and Graven.
