NPHS considers online classes
New Prague High School could experiment with several online hybrid classes for students next year, if the school board approves a proposal from high school principal Tom Doig.
At the Monday, Nov. 9, meeting of the New Prague Area School Board, Doig gave board members a brief presentation on work he and several staff members have been doing to implement such classes. These classes give students the ability to do some of the coursework online, outside of the classroom, and would not require them to be in the classroom, or even in the school building, during the time scheduled for the class.
Doig said with the school districts' implementation of Moodle web sites for teachers, which allow students to get information and submit assignments online, the hybrid classes are a way to offer different delivery methods for instruction that meets the needs of some students.
This type of instruction is being offered more and more in college classes
