NPHS names boys soccer coach
Gospel Kordah has been named the Head Boys Soccer Coach at New Prague High School, pending approval from the school board.
Gospel grew up in St. Louis Park and graduated from St. Louis Park Senior High, where he competed in soccer, football and track and field. After graduating from St. Louis Park, he earned a dual scholarship for track and soccer at Lincoln College (IL). After graduating from Lincoln, he furthered his education and athletic career at Augsburg College majoring in Psychology.
Kordah is an Equity Specialist for Shakopee Public Schools. He has been coaching high school Soccer and Track & Field for four years and has experience coaching both girls and boys. He is a former head coach for Community of Peace Academy and was most recently the JV/Varsity Assistant Girls Soccer Coach at Shakopee High School. He resides in Brooklyn Park with his wife and two children.
Kordah succeeds Jon Hopke, who started the boys program from scratch with a middle school program. In 2007, he coached the school’s first JV program, and became head coach when the school fielded its first varsity program in 2009. Hopke coached the varsity team for eight years before stepping down after the 2016 season.
