NPHS One-Act finishes third, advances to sections

School one-act play is advancing to the Section 2AA Finals that will be held this Saturday, Feb. 4, at Marshall High School. New Prague’s one-act, “The Nose” finished third at the Minnesota State High School League 2AA Sub-Section B competition held at New Prague High School on Saturday, Jan. 28. Under the rules for the MSHSL, the top three oneact plays advance to sections.

Minnetonka’s presentation of “The Normal Heart” won first and Chaska’s showing of “The Effect” was second. There were a total of seven schools participating. Also performing was Chanhassen with “O, Beautiful for Clowny Skies,” Shakopee with “I Never Saw Another Butterfly,” Eden Prairie with “A Human Write,” and Prior Lake with “Antigone.”

“I thought the students did a fantastic job last Saturday. In my opinion, it was their best run yet,” said NPHS director Ben Thietje. The previous night on Friday, Jan. 27, they did a performance for New Prague area residents. “Friday was very fun, too. We had a nice crowd that seemed to enjoy the show quite a bit. Overall, I was extremely proud of the students,” said Thietje.
