NPMS holds Geography Bee
New Prague Middle School hosted a local competition in the National Geography Bee. Jessica Konken, the school district’s enrichment coordinator, helped organize the vent. Students took geography screening during their reading period beginning in December. The top 16 students missed three or fewer questions on screening test, with one student getting 100 percent.
The top 16 students took part in the Middle School’s Bee January 5. Students studied for the competition with resources from the National Geographic Study corner.
Geography Bee finalists were: Hannah Bohnsack, Mike Boerner, Zane Bucher, Chris Dohmen, Zach Farmer, Ryan Fredrickson, Steven Girard, Brent Jones, Chris Kallhoff, Eric Kallhoff, Nick LaMoore, Anna Marie Loose, Stephanie Neisen, Austin Norton, David Puente and Dan Ring.
The top finishers at the Geography bee were Mike Boerner, first place; David Puente, second place, and Ryan Fredrickson, third. Each of these three received plaques. Boerner will take a written test to see if he qualifies for state competition.
