Odelia Riesgraf, 95

Odelia Marie Riesgraf, 95, of Jordan, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, in the presence of her family.

Odelia was born on April 12, 1917, on a farm south of Jordan, a daughter of William and Mary (Deutsch) Nachbar. She attended rural and Jordan schools and then worked with families who needed help. She married Andrew Riesgraf on May 9, 1939, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan. They farmed in Belle Plaine Township a few years before coming to a farm east of Jordan to continue farming for many years. Odelia and Andrew enjoyed traveling, card playing and their family. After retiring from farming, they worked at the former Triangle Station and Restaurant in Jordan. After her husband died on May 4, 1988, Odelia stayed on the farm for a few more years, then moved to Jordan. Her volunteer work continued in the church and community. She enjoyed quilting, making a quilt for each child, grandchild, and great-grandchild. She also made many quilts for the church festivals. She helped at funeral luncheons for many years and also worked with other church activities. She was a lifetime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Odelia was also an active member of Christian Mothers, the Church Quilting Club and Catholic Aid Association.

She is survived by children Donna (Jim) Murphy, Golden Valley, Marilyn (Willie) Kalal, Prior Lake, Joann Homyak, Prior Lake, Kenneth (Sandie) Riesgraf, Mankato, Lois ( Allen Rothe) Riesgraf, Chaska, Rodney (and special friend Myra Hoffman) Riesgraf, Jordan, and Brenda (Scott) Kern, Eden Prairie; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister- in-law, Buddy and Rosella Riesgraf, Belle Plaine; and sister-in-law Sabina Blatz, St. Paul Park.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a brother Francis Nachbar.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan, with Rev. Thomas Joseph officiating.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Riesgraf, Rodney Riesgraf, Brett Langer, Andrew Homyak, Scott Riesgraf and Joel Murphy.

Visitation was held Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home in Jordan, and from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at church, prior to the service.
