One hurt in motorcycle crash near NP

A car-motorcycle crash east of New Prague sent the driver of a motorcycle to North Memorial Sunday, May 14.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Cody James Blom, 31, of Richfield, was eastbound on Highway 19 approaching Redwing Avenue and decided to pass a truck, going head-on toward a car driven by James Arthur Slinkard, 69, of New Prague. Slinkard was westbound and had slowed to make a left turn. He saw the motorcycle coming at him and was unable to avoid him. The motorcycle hit the front end of Slinkard’s car and the rider was tossed toward the shoulder of the road. The crash was reported at 7:23 p.m.
Blom was transported by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System hospital in New Prague, and then flown by air ambulance to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale for what the State Patrol described as “a suspected minor injury.”
According to the incident report, a warrant was obtained for a legal blood draw on the motorcycle driver. Charges are on hold pending the result of that test.
A passenger in the Slinkard vehicle, Judith Josephine Slinkard, was transported by squad car to the hospital for a possible minor injury.
The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the crash. They were assisted by North Ambulance, New Prague Police and New Prague Fire, and Scott and Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Deputies
