One injured in morning accident

A Wausau, Wisconsin, man was injured during a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 13 and Highway 60 in Waterville at approximately 8:30 a.m. on the morning of July 4.

A 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Frederick Hirn, 59, was heading south bound on Highway 13 when it failed to stop for a stop sign and struck a west bound 2015 GMC Sierra driven by Daniel Smith of Prior Lake, 44.

Hirn’s airbag did not deploy. Hirn suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to MCHS Mankato.

Smith’s airbag did deploy. Smith was not injured in the crash.

According to the State Patrol’s accident report, alcohol was not involved in the crash.
