Two people have filed for two four-year terms on the city council. Incumbent Rob Babione has filed for a second term, and he is joined by Charles Aldrich. Incumbent Kay Wilcox, who has the longest tenure on the current city council, has not indicated whether she plans to file for another term.
Anyone interested in filing can do so during regular office hours at the New Prague City Hall. Filing ends at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12.
Elko New Market
Candidates for the Elko New Market City Council and Mayor can also file until 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, at either the Elko City Hall or the New Market Area Hall. The first election will choose two two-year council members and two four-year council members, along with a mayor.
Mayor candidates are Henry Zweber and Kent Hartzler. Four-year council candidates are Joe Molitor and Dennis Melgaard, and two-year council candidate is Linda Borgen.
