Orville Theodore Kewatt, 80

Orville Theodore Kewatt, 80, of Kilkenny died on Sunday, August 27, 2006 at his residence in Kilkenny.

Born on February 4, 1926 in Cordova Township, Le Sueur County, Minnesota he was the son of Theodore and Emily (Holicky) Kewatt. He attended School District #31 in Le Sueur County. Orville married Alice Holmes and they were later divorced. He farmed with his parents before farming on his own. He was also a truck driver and worked at the Kilkenny Creamery for 30 years. He married Regina Spitzack on February 21, 1969 in Brookings, SD. After the creamery closed, he worked part time for Four County Ag and Green Giant. Orville enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and playing cards. He was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Kilkenny and had been a member of the Kilkenny Fire Department for 37 years, serving as fire chief for 19 years.

He is survived by his wife Regina of Kilkenny; seven children, Charles (Dorothy) Zimbrich of Waterville, Kathy (Mick) Reintjes of Elysian, Ken (Mary) Kewatt of Shakopee, Mary (Joe) Meyman of Waterville, Larry (Millie) Kewatt of Columbia Heights, Marcia (Ed) Herrgott of Shakopee, and Colleen (Dave) Mattke of New Ulm; 19 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. He is also survived by eight siblings, Louise Bartusek of New Prague, Betty (Delmer) Braun of Montgomery, Henry (Jeanette) Kewatt of Cleveland, Charles (JoAnn) Kewatt of Columbia Heights, Shirley Bluhm of Waterville, Donald Kewatt of Kilkenny, Joan (Victor) Bruns of Elysian, and Jerry (LaVonn) Kewatt of Mankato; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters-Alvera Schnoor and two in infancy, one brother in infancy, and three grandsons.

Visitation was held at the Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville on Tuesday, August 29, 2006 from 4-8 p.m. and continued on Wednesday, one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 10:30 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kilkenny with Rev. Michael Wallace officiating. Burial followed at Concordia Cemetery in Rice County.

Casket Bearers were members of Kilkenny Fire Department. Honorary Casket Bearers were his grandchildren
