Parade of Lights sparkles in cold crisp weather

Patrick Fisher, Staff Writer

There was cold, crisp weather for New Prague’s Parade of Lights on the evening of Thursday, Dec. 8, but that didn’t keep a good-sized crowd away from the 10th annual event along New Prague’s Main Street.

Temperatures were in the teens when the 24 entries in the Parade of Lights began their trek near St. Wenceslaus Church and traveled west on Main Street, past crowds of people dressed for the cold weather. The vehicles were adorned with an assortment of lights and decorative items, including snowmen, reindeer, and Christmas trees.

The entry from New Prague Utilities won first place among the vehicles that participated in the parade. Lakers-New Prague Sanitary Service, Inc. was second and the New Prague Snowdrifters placed third.

Snow on the ground added to the holiday atmosphere. Even those in the crowd showed enthusiasm for the holidays as several people wore Santa hats.

The weather was decent and we had a very nice turnout
