Paul Roger, 84

Paul Jacques Roger, 84, of New Prague, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at Mala Strana Health Care Center in New Prague.

He was born on March 4, 1927, in Saint Vaast de longmont, France, a son of Paul Henri and Lucy (Cardon) Roger. He attended school in France, graduating from high school with honors at age 13. He served in the French Army, 110th Infantry Battalion, from 1947 to 1949. Paul married Ginette Mary on April 2, 1949, in Thourotte, France. They lived in Massachusetts, Los Angeles and Ventura, CA, and finally New Prague. Paul retired in 1997. He enjoyed playing soccer in his youth and became a semi-pro. He loved cribbage, playing cards and hanging out with his children and grandchildren and playing with his great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters Jeannie Shambour, Webster, and Claudette Gilden-Taylor, Ventura, CA; six grandchildren Jerret Gilden, Amanda Shambour, Brad Shambour, Anthony Shambour, Jeff Shambour and Lindsay Taylor; four great-grandchildren Madelyn Whicker, Mackenzee Whicker, Emily Shambour and Jacob Ruar; and a sister Lucette Gialonardo, Naples, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two siblings Gaston Roger and Pierre Roger, both of Thourotte, France.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
