Philomena Haefs, 90
Philomena Haefs, 90, of Arlington, died Thursday, April 18, 2013, at the Sibley Medical Center in Arlington.
Philomena was born at home in rural Rice County on November 11, 1922, a daughter of John and Emma (Budin) Edel. She married Leland Haefs at St. Paul's Parsonage in Henderson on July 1, 1947. They made their home on the farm in Kelso Township. Philomena liked cooking and gardening, and was a former 4-H leader, as well as a member of the Kelso Homemakers and St. Paul's Women's Guild.
She is survived by children Rodney (Barbara) Haefs, Henderson, Robert (Karen) Haefs, Henderson, and Sharon Marshall, Arlington; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; a brother Ivan (Lois) Edel, Cannon Falls; and sisters-in-law Lorraine Edel, New Prague, Alice Haefs, Belle Plaine, and Adeline Haefs, Le Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and siblings Richard Edel, Alvin Edel, and Helen Pesta.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 22, at St Paul's United Church of Christ in Henderson, with the Rev. Brigit Stevens officiating.
Interment was at Brown Cemetery in Henderson.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Arrangements were with the Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington.
