Pinewood Derby provides its own furious fun
Cub Scouts of Pack 323 in New Prague had their own day to be fast and furious on Saturday, Feb. 25, as they had their Pinewood Derby at the Park Ballroom in New Prague.
“We had a great day and are grateful to have been hosted by our charter organization, the New Prague American Legion, at the Park Ballroom,” said Mark Rausch, one of the organizers of the Pinewood Derby. “The facilities were awesome and provided a great venue for our group.”
The event allowed boys to craft cars out of blocks of wood and decorate them. Details ranged from a beaver perched on one car to another resembling a hot dog to one plastered with emojis to one painted yellow with the face of the Pokemon character Pikachu adorning it.
There were 40 scouts that participated ranging in rank. They included six Arrow of Light scouts, nine Webelos, four Bears, 11 Wolves, five Tigers and five Lions.
The Pack awarded winners in each den and then first through fifth place overall in a Grand Finale. The top 10 race winners from one to 10 were....
