Planning Commission discusses changes to sign ordinance

The New Prague Planning and Zoning Commission discussed amending the city's sign ordinance at its Wednesday, Sept. 20, meeting.

The discussions were just the first step, as the commission will be holding a public hearing about the amendment at its November 15 meeting. City staff has suggested 15 changes to the ordinance, ranging from the size of some signs, to how long temporary signs can be set up, to the placement of sandwich board signs.

Ken Ondich, New Prague City Planner, said there are two reasons for the suggested changes. One is that there have been issues with signs in the past and the city has decided to address them. The other deals with an article, Sign Code Shakedown
