Planning recommends music on patios

The New Prague Planning Commission recommended for approval an amendment that would allow outdoor patio music in the city. The commission made the recommendation after a public hearing at its Wednesday, Oct. 23, meeting.
The hearing drew two downtown residents and a written comment from New Prague City Council member Pat Scripture. All asked that the commission consider the effect of the amendment on residents who live in the downtown.
In its discussion, the commission decided to include in the recommendation that music not be heard from a distance of 50 feet from the edge of the patio. Also music must end by 10 p.m. every night.
The amendment is scheduled to go before the city council at its Monday, Nov. 4, meeting.
