Poplau to interview for Edina job

New Prague Superintendent Dr. Frankie Poplau is a semifinalist to replace Edina Superintendent Kenneth Dragseth when he retires June 30.

Poplau was one of five candidates chosen to be interviewed by the Edina School Board January 19-21. After those meetings, three finalists will be chosen and each will take part in a public forum, where residents can ask them questions. The forums will be held January 23, 24 and 25. The board is scheduled to select a final candidate on January 26.

Poplau has been superintendent in New Prague since July 1, 1999, and prior to that was assistant superintendent. She has been with the New Prague Area Schools for 12 years.

Other candidates for the Edina job are:

—Dr. Chace Anderson, currently assistant superintendent in the Edina District.

—Frederic Dressen, superintendent in Alexandria.

—Sarah Jerome, superintendent of the Kettle Moraine School District in Wisconsin.

—Dr. Ryder Warren, superintendent in Marble Falls, TX.
