Post 45 falls to Red Wing

The Post 45 American Legion baseball team suffered its first loss of the season 5-4 at the hands of Red Wing Wednesday, June 26.

Red Wing took a 2-0 lead in the first, but New Prague tied it on a two-run home run by Brok Schwartzkopf in the bottom of the inning.  

Red Wing led 5-2 in the sixth when Post 45 scored twice, on a fielder’s choice and a passed ball, but New Prague couldn’t get the tieing run, dropping their season record to 8-1.

Auggie Isaacson went 2-for-4 for New Prague. Joe Heinz, Paul Hentges, Danny Beckius and Nathan Olson all had hits, with Olson getting a double.

Hentges was the starting pitcher and took the loss, allowing seven hits in 4-1/3 innings. Ben Miller and Schwartzkopf came on in relief.

New Prague was scheduled to host Farmington Monday, July 1, then will travel to Farmington for a game at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 7. They play Northfield at Dundas at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, and then travel to Faribault for a 7 p.m. game Wednesday, July 10.
