Red Wing tops Trojans, 63-45
The New Prague Trojan girls basketball team saw their season end with a 63-45 loss to Missota Conference rival Red Wing in the quarterfinals of the state Class AAA girls basketball tournament Wednesday, March 13, at Williams Arena.
New Prague could not stop Winger senior Tesha Buck, who had a game-high 32 points. New Prague countered with 14 from eighth-grader Maizie Deihl and 11 from seniors Annie Dittberner and 10 from Lexi Ruehling.
The Trojans end their season with a 22-7 record. Red Wing, also 22-7, advances to the tournament semifinals. They will play No. 1 seed Richfield at noon on Thursday, March 14, at Target Center in Minneapolis. The winner will play for the state championship at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at Target Center.
