Region 3C Baseball update

The Region 3C baseball tournament begin Sunday, July 30, with four games, and the top seeded teams won all four. 
The eight-team, double-elimination tournament continues with two games each on Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 1 and 2. The winners of Tuesday's games will get two of the region's four berths in the State Baseball Tourament, which begins August 18 in Hamburg, Green Isle and Norwood. 
 
Games Sunday, July 30
Faribault 9, Veseli 0
Matt Lane allowed two hits in six innings to get the win as Faribault defeated Veseli 8-1. Tyler Francis pitched three innings of relief and allowed one hit. Joey Grote had two hits and Jack Helgeson had two RBIs. 
 
Union Hill 14, St. Patrick 3
Union Hill blasted five home runs, two by Conrad Masberg and one each by Sustin Steinhoff, Nathan Berg and Adam Gill, to propel them to a 14-3 win over St. Patrick. Dan Feneis got the win in relief. 
 
New Prague 9, Montgomery 7
James Fuerniss had a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning as New Prague overcame a 5-0 deficit to defeat Montgomery 9-7 in St. Patrick. Nathan Sprouls pitched a complete game for the Orioles, striking out eight. 
 
New Market 11, Shakopee 1
Nate Rost had two home runs and seven RBIs, and was also the winning pitcher as New Market defeated Shakopee 11-1. Lance Buchtel had three hits for Shakopee.
