Remember the home town
Christmas is fast approaching. Many stores are already in full holiday mode, with some having decorations and holiday displays in place for several weeks. Christmas advertising is also finding its way into newspapers (see the Gift Guide in this week’s paper), TV shows, radio and internet advertising. Some places have even started playing Christmas music. And many holiday boutiques and crafts shows have also popped up, as people begin their Christmas shopping in earnest.
We’d like to draw your attention inward, toward your hometown. While it’s easy to go online or fun to take a trip to the cities and shop in the big malls, it’s important to remember your hometown businesses. Most of what you need, you can find right in New Prague, often at comparable prices. That doesn’t mean you need to do all of your shopping here… You may have your reasons to shop elsewhere, but keep in mind that the local businesses are the ones that often support local civic organizations and local charities. They are - or employ - your friends and neighbors and help to create a vital, thriving community.
So, if you are planning to go out on Black Friday, save a little time and energy (and money) to also support local businesses on Small Town Saturday. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the selection and prices you’ll find right here in New Prague.
