Remember, it’s ‘America the Beautiful’

Ask anyone who is interested in politics and they’ll likely tell you that this election has not been for the faint of heart. On one hand you have the Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump who has been saying nasty things for months. He says Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Presidential nominee, is corrupt and should be in jail. Meanwhile, she has described Trump as being racist, sexist and unfit for presidency.

The two Presidential debates have resembled more of a playground fight between kindergartens than of grownups discussing the issues that beleaguer our country. (Actually kindergartners are more grown up than Trump and Clinton, and wouldn’t stoop to the low levels they have used to attack each other.)

I probably don’t need to remind everyone there is still a little more than three weeks until the election. Yes, we have to endure three more weeks of this.

If you are sick of it, or if you became sick of it during the primaries, you are not alone. There is even an unofficial name for the sickness; it’s called, “election stress disorder”

Apparently when you suffer from this (and I mean to use the word “suffer”) the disorder causes increased irritability, heart palpitations and an inability to sleep. It’s not a surprise, though. The cantankerous and nasty things spewed by the candidates are being exacerbated by 24-hour news channels and social media. The vitriol among “friends” on Facebook and Twitter has reached never-before-seen levels.

This election can’t come soon enough.
