Reuben Prail, 80
Reuben Prail, age 80, of Janesville, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at Cottagewood Senior Communities in Mankato.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 30, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville with interment at St. John's Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Iosco Township. Visitation was held Friday, January 29, 2016, at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home in Janesville and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Reuben Arvid, son of Arthur and Alvina (Roeker) Prail, was born on August 12, 1935, in Waseca, MN. He was baptized on September 1, 1935, at Trinity Lutheran Church. He attended country school and then Trinity Lutheran School in Janesville. Reuben was confirmed on April 10, 1949, at Trinity. Following his schooling, he took over the family dairy farm. He also sold Northrup-King seed for many years. On June 23, 1957, Reuben was united in marriage to Mary Jane Perkins at Sugar Grove Methodist Church in Westby, WI. Together, they raised six daughters. In August 1992, he retired from farming.
Reuben served on the Board of Trustees for Trinity and was very active in the church choir. He enjoyed traveling, especially wintering in Texas with Mary Jane for many years. He loved playing cards, eating popcorn while watching western movies, Schwan's ice cream, John Deere tractors, dancing, and doing handyman projects. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Reuben is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jane Prail of Janesville; daughters, Susan (Randall) Strom of Jackson, MN, and their children, Nathaniel Strom and his son, Mason, Zachary Strom (Lauren Cerwinske) and their children, Dallas and Dalton, Tiffany Strom (Matthew Franz) and their son, Graydon, Chelsey Strom, and Serena Strom, Sallie (Mike) Bajula of Janesville and her children, Jacob Volkmann, Sarah Volkmann and her children, Bethany and Malachi, James Volkmann and Amber Volkmann, Connie (Paul) Davison of Waterville and their children, Katrina Davison (friend, Russel Brooks) and Kevin Davison (partner, Jeremy Karnik), Nancy Prail (partner, Lee Toth) of Fairfield, CT, Renae (Joel) Groskreutz of Waldorf and their children, Amanda (Charlie) Graham and their son, Louis, Benjamin Groskreutz and Anna Groskreutz, and Rita (James) Eckman of Elk River, MN; close family friend, Shelley Everson; and by many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; one sister; granddaughter, Emily Lynn Groskreutz; two brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law.
All memorials are preferred to the Secret Angel Fund at Trinity Lutheran School in Janesville.
