Reward offered following bar break-ins in Montgomery

The Montgomery Police Department and the Le Sueur County Sheriff's Office are offering a reward to catch the person or persons responsible for a rash of break-ins which occurred in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Nov. 17.

In Montgomery, Pla Mor Lanes and the American Legion were both burglarized with some cash taken. In Waterville, three bars suffered break-ins, and cash registers were raided. In all cases, the bars' phone lines were cut to prevent alarm systems from operating, and pull tabs were the main target.

Chris Reak, owner of Pla Mor Lanes, said this was the third time in 35 years the bowling alley had been broken into. On Wednesday morning, she received a call from police telling her that the front glass door to the bar had been shattered.

She found the pull tab ticket box was broken into, she said, but that other money and her cash register weren't touched.

Reak said the police estimate that the robbery occurred sometime around 5:30 a.m. as her Star Tribune newspaper, delivered early in the morning, was underneath the shattered glass.

They must have had some kind of tool because my door was shattered in a million pieces
