Richard Hruska, 83

Richard Theodore Hruska, 83, of Faribault, died Tuesday, September 6, 2011, surrounded by his family.

Richard was born on April 27, 1928, a son of James and Frances (Sevcik) Hruska. He married Mary Rose Malecha on October 19, 1949, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale. They began a lifelong career of farming in the Montgomery/ Lonsdale area, where they lived for many years while raising 13 children. Richard also worked several jobs in addition to farming. He drove milk truck, worked at the GTA Elevator in Lonsdale for many years, the canning factories in Montgomery and Faribault, and Farmer Seed and Nursery in Faribault. Richard was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Divine Mercy Catholic Church. Over the years, he maintained huge vegetable gardens which he shared with his children. He loved to play cards, doing wood crafts and teasing his grandkids. Richard and Mary enjoyed card club, square dancing with friends and attending all the area church festivals.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years; 13 children Sharon Korbel, New Prague, Sheila (Ron) Koon, Cedar, Lorna (Don) Grimm, Custer, SD, Mary (Jim) Aritt, New Prague, Rena (Ron) Lehman, Le Sueur, Ann McCabe, Le Center, Alicia (Tim) Holicky, Le Center, Dawn (Barrie) Peterson, Waseca, Amy (Bob) Condon, Montrose, SD, Paula Hruska, Faribault; Richard Hruska Jr., Garden City, Randy (Maria) Hruska, Faribault, and John (Barbara) Hruska, Chester, VA; 28 grandchildren; and 15 greatgrandchildren; and siblings Jim Hruska, Alice Bruzek and Lillian Hruby.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two siblings in infancy; a sister Marcella; brother Arthur; two grandchildren Stephanie and Marcus.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 10, at Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Lonsdale.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the White Funeral Home in Lonsdale, and one hour prior to the services.
