Richard Pint, 79

Richard J. Pint, 79, of New Prague, formerly of Union Hill, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at his home.

Born April 7, 1929, in Belle Plaine Township, Scott County, Richard was a son of Math and Catherine (Solheid) Pint. Born and raised by Union Hill, he attended Scott County District School and New Prague High School. Richard married Cyrilla Hartman on June 25, 1955, at St. Benedict. He was owner/operator of the West End Bowling Alley in New Prague for 25 years with his sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Ambrose Busch. He also worked at the Shakopee Foundry, MVE, New Prague Creamery and drove school bus for 20 years. He was a member of the Third Degree Knights of Columbus, Catholic Aid Association, New Prague Ambulance and Police Reserve. Richard loved to play cards.

He is survived by his wife; six children Debbie (Matthew) Hoffer, Circle Pines, Barb (Rollin) Lau, Lakeville, Ricky (Sandra) Pint, Grand Rapids, Kevin (Sharon) Pint, Lonsdale, Thomas (Angela) Pint, Savage and Joe (Kristy) Pint, New Prague; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; brothers Math (Lynn) Pint, Aurora, CO and James (Maria) Pint, Prior Lake; sisters Bette (Lambert) Hoffman, St. Paul, Janet Busch, New Prague, Gen (Milo) Schmitz, New Prague and Mary Clair (Mike) Fyock, Richmond, VA; sister-in-law Ann (Jack) Pint, New Prague; and brother-in-law Fritz (Judy) Ruzicka, New Prague.

He was preceded in death by a grandchild Trevor Richard Pint; his parents; brother Robert Pint; sister Judith Ruzicka; and brother-in-law Ambrose Busch.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m., at St. John's Catholic Church in Union Hill, with Rev. Elgar Bockenfeld, OFM, officiating.

Interment was at St. John's Cemetery in Union Hill. Pallbearers were grandsons Luke Hoffer, Jake Hoffer, Taylor Hoffer, Michael Pint, David Pint, Danny Pint, Jonathan Pint and Zachary Pint.

Visitation was held from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague. A combined parish, Knights of Columbus and Catholic Aid rosary was held at 7 p.m. Sunday.
