Richard A. Prochaska

Richard A. Prochaska, 84, New Prague, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at Mala Strana Health Care Facility.

Richard, the son of John F. and Albina (Janda) Prochaska, was born on August 21, 1924, in Heidelberg. He attended Montgomery Public Schools, and married Dolores T. Effertz on June 14, 1952, at St. John's Church, Belle Plaine.

Richard worked for the Minneapolis Tribune, New Prague Produce, and New Prague Creamery as a boiler operator.

He was a member of several organizations, including the North Star Lily Society, Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, the Minnesota and National Hosta Society, the Minnesota and National Daylily Society, the Arc of Minnesota, the Boilermaker's Union, MN, Catholic Aid Association, and the National Gladiolas Society.

With his wife, Dolores, Richard maintained Prochaska Gardens in New Prague. He hybridized and registered two Asiatic lilies, the Iowa Rose and Pink Richard
