Richard Warnemunde, 67

Richard M. Warnemunde, 67, of New Prague, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at his home.

Richard was born July 1, 1945, at the Rice County Hospital in Faribault, a son of John Melvin and Ethel (Morrissey) Warnemunde. Raised in the Kilkenny area, he attended St. Canice Parochial School and Montgomery High School. Dick was drafted into the U.S. Army following high school, and served during the Vietnam War. He married Linda A. Slavik on September 3, 1971, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague. He worked for the Le Sueur County Highway Department for 34 years in road maintenance. Dick was a life member of the V.F.W., collected model trains and farm tractors, and loved to garden, watch birds and visit.

He is survived by his wife; a son Tom (Karlyn) Warnemunde, St. Joseph; two brothers Bob (Colleen) Warnemunde, Waterville, and Dave (Deb) Warnemunde, Faribault; many nieces and nephews, and other family members and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers Thomas Lee Warnemunde and Larry Warnemunde.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 10 a.m., at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague, with Rev. Kevin Clinton officiating. Liturgical readers were Jim Slavik and Alissa Schmidt.

Interment was at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in New Prague. Pallbearers were Steve Warnemunde, Adam Warnemunde, Steve Ward, Jonathan Slavik, Chris Slavik, Matt Slavik and Lee Efta.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.
