Road construction in community continues

The various road construction projects in the New Prague area continue this week.

Crews working on Highway 13/19 on the east side of New Prague hope to put down blacktop this week. They will also continue to grade behind curbs for the laying of Class 5 aggregate, base material for sidewalks and trails in the area.

According to Susan Museus, senior engineering specialist with the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), the project on the city's East Main Street looks like it will make the scheduled October 12 completion date, weather permitting.

New Prague Public Works Director Dennis Seurer said work continues on the city street projects. It is hoped Lexington Avenue N will have a layer of blacktop placed on it by the end of the week. Work on Gooseberry Lane and Liberty Lane, two cul-de-sacs also on this year's construction schedule won't get underway until the blacktopping is done on Lexington.

Meanwhile, finishing work is underway on Le Sueur County Road 29, east of County Road 144. That stretch of road is open, but some work remains.
