Road Construction season gets underway in Rice Co.

The Rice County Highway Department construction season was scheduled to begin the week of May 9, weather permitting, according to Highway Engineer Dennis Luebbe.

Projects scheduled for this year include:

Replace a box culvert on Glynview Trail (County Road 19), just south of 220th Street. Glynview Trail southeast of Faribault will be closed to through traffic during the work;

A mill and overlay of Glynview Trail, between Faribault and Cabot Avenue (County Road 21);

A continuation of the grading and resurfacing of 70th Street West (County Road 2) between Lonsdale and the western county line where it meets Le Sueur County Road 28; and reconstruction of Dennison Boulevard (County Road 31), between Highway 246 and the eastern county line in Dennison.

This year's seal coat projects include several roads in the county.

Luebbe said as always, traffic is advised to drive carefully within these construction zones and obey all signage and flag persons.
