Roslyn Crawford, 90

Roslyn D. Crawford, 90, of New Prague, formerly of Wells, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at the Lodge on Natchez Hospice in Elko New Market.

Roslyn Dorothy Crawford was born March 7, 1918, in Wells, a daughter of Joseph and Sophia Pregler. She graduated from Wells High School and lived in Wells until 2003, when she moved to New Prague to be near her daughters. Roslyn married Gregory Traynor on April 28, 1938, and they lived and raised their family in the Wells and Easton areas, except for five years in Minneapolis, until Gregory died in December 1976. Roslyn married Harold Crawford of Wells on September 5, 1980, and they lived in Wells and at Lake Ida near Alexandria. Harold died in June 1988. Roslyn was a homemaker all her life and also worked for Parkview Nursing Home for 10 years as a dietary aide. While employed at Parkview, she wrote the Parkview Notes article published in The Wells Mirror. She was an avid reader and loved to write. After moving to New Prague, she and two friends started the monthly Philipp Square Newsletter for her apartment community, and Roslyn co-authored that publication through the November 2008 edition. Her poetry was often highlighted in the newsletter and brought much enjoyment to her readers. Throughout her life, Roslyn did considerable volunteer work and was an active member of the Rosary Society, the Council of Catholic Women, Wells Senior Citizens, VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary, holding offices in many of these organizations. One of her favorite volunteer activities after her retirement was offering a conversation and reminiscing hour for residents at Parkview Nursing Home called Having A Ball With Roslyn. She was well known for her wit and fun-loving personality, and her love for and dedication to her family.

She is survived by children Richard (Sandra) Traynor, Rice Lake, WI, Kathleen Vogel, New Prague, Daniel (Brenda) Traynor, Chetek, WI and Ann (Peter) Sletten, New Prague; stepchildren Larry (Jan) Crawford, Wells, Linda (Don) Schroeder, Wayzata and Julie (Steve) Schultz, Sauk Rapids; 10 grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren; and sister-in-law Maxine Pregler, Burnsville.
