Rost throws no-hitter for Muskies

New Market’s Nate Rost threw a no-hitter for the Muskies in a 20-0 win over St. Benedict to highlight the week’s action in the Dakota- Rice-Scott baseball league.

New Market remained undefeated in league play, with a 5-0 record to lead the Red Division. St. Patrick (4-1) leads the White Division and St. Benedict (4-2) is on top of the Blue Division.

Orioles 9,Warriors 4 New Prague picked up its first win of the year with a 9- 4 win over Veseli Wednesday, May 14. Dusty Beckius picked up the win for the Orioles.

For Veseli, Eric Steinhoff, Tyler Beunig and Jason Kazlauskas each had two hits, with Steinhoff and Kazlauskas both getting doubles. Kazlauskas had two RBIs. Matt Perkinson took the loss for Veseli.

Express 6, Bulldogs 0 Elko defeated Union Hill 6-0 in a game played at Elko. No information was submitted.

Muskies 20, Saints 0 Nate Rost pitched a seven-inning no-hitter as New Market defeated St. Benedict 20-0 Thursday, May 15, at Elko.

Tyler Bergstrom had four hits, including two doubles, while Scot Lyden, Nate Rost and Mike Carpentier all had multiple hits. Nate Rost had a single, double and triple.

Scott Eischens took the loss for the Saints.

Coyotes 7, Sox 6 Shakopee got the winning run in the bottom of the seventh in a game that saw several lead changes. Chris Lazzari, pitching in relief of Andy Lazzari, got the win for the Coyotes, while Nick Nelson took the loss for Webster.

The Sox had 13 hits, with Rob Krostue getting three hits and two RBIs, Brandon Sather going 2-for-5 with a home run and Jeremy Wieland getting three hits.

Josh Gregor and Andy Lazzari had three hits each, with Gregor getting the game-winning RBI in the seventh.

Irish 10, Aces 3 Lonsdale took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but St. Patrick led 4-2 after three and never looked back.

Seth Ambroz took the win, with Bill Dunker pitching in relief for St. Patrick. For the Aces, Lance Anderson took the loss, with Phil Tisdel pitching in relief. Lonsdale had six hits for the game, with Anderson getting a double.

Mallards 5, Lakers 2 Montgomery picked up its first win of the season, taking a 5-2 decision over Faribault Friday. Brad Flicek picked up the win in relief, going 3-1/3 innings. John Krocak struck out five in two innings for the save. Top Mallard hitters were Robbie Damoto, who went 3-for-3, Krocak going 2-for- 4 and Tom Flicek 2-for-3.

Saints 8,Warriors 3 The St. Benedict Saints defeated Veseli 8-3 Saturday. Jeremy Heitkamp threw seven innings of two-hit baseball while Jacob Wolf earned the save. Andrew Huss drove in three runs and Tanner Oakes had two RBIs for the Saints. Mike Bartusek and Eric Steinhoff each homered for the Warriors accounting for their runs. Blake Radloff took the loss for Veseli.

Mudcats 21, Mallards 15 Prior Lake defeated Montgomery in a slugfest, 21-15 Saturday in Montgomery. Schoenrock took the win for Prior Lake, while Robbie Marschall was tagged with the loss for the Mallards. the Mudcats had 15 walks and 14 hits, with three hit batters and five errors also contributing to their cause. The Mallards battled to the end, leaving the bases full in both the seventh and eighth innings.

Sox 11, Saints 3 Webster scored runs in seven of its eight at-bats and easily defeated St. Benedict 11-3 at Webster Sunday.

Alex Fischer pitched eight innings of two-hit baseball, striking out 12, and helped his own cause by going 3- for-4 with two doubles. Nate Nielsen went 4-for-5, with a home run and four RBIs. Brandon Sather also went 4- for-5 with three doubles, and Jason Nelson went 3-for-5 with a homerun and a double, and scored four runs.

Tom Kreuser took the loss for St. Benedict.

Bulldogs 6, Mallards 5 The Bulldogs pulled out a 6-5 win in Montgomery Sunday.

Bryan Lindner started for Union Hill, going five innings before giving way to Matt Beckius, who got the win. Josh Kuchinka started for the Mallards, with Brad Flicek taking the loss. While Lindner didn’t get the win on the mound, he did save the game while playing center field in the ninth, robbing the Mallards of a sure extra base hit that would have tied the score.

After Montgomery tied the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the 8th, Union Hill got the winning run in the ninth. Eric Bisek reached second on an error and Nolan Hodapp delivered an RBI single. John Solheid pitched the ninth to earn the save. Matt Beckius and Adam Giesen each had three hits for the Bulldogs. Adam Gill reached base four times, scoring three runs. Mike Flicek was the hitting star for the Mallards.

Mudcats 9, Aces 5 Prior Lake defeated Lonsdale 9-5 in Lonsdale Sunday. Ben Morrison took the win, with Jake Schmidt getting the save, while Tyler Sticha was the losing pitcher for the Aces.

For Lonsdale, Kevin Kalina and Travis Scheffler had two hits each.

Coyotes 14,Warriors 4 Ben Lazzari had the complete game win, scattering 12 hits and striking out five. Ben Lazzari had three hits, including a two-run homer in the second. Alex Gregor and Zack Graff both had a double and two RBIs.

For Veseli, Luke Giesen started and took the loss, with Curt Brezina and Eric Steinhoff pitching in relief. Matt Perkinson had three hits, including a double. Tyler Beunig had an RBI double.

Irish 12, Lakers 1 St Patrick used an eightrun sixth inning to put an early end to their game against Faribault Sunday, as they defeated the visiting Lakers 12-1.

Josh Simon took the win. St. Patrick was led by Seth Ambroz, who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three stolen bases. Simon was 2- for-3 with four RBIs, while Bill Dunker also had two hits.

Faribault’s Joey Grote and Eddie Gilliam both had two hits. Francis took the loss on the mound for the Lakers.
