Ruth Barta, 90

Ruth E. Barta, 90, of New Prague, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at Mala Strana Health Care Center in New Prague. Ruth was born in Minneapolis on March 21, 1922, a daughter of Dennis and Evangeline (Powers) O’Leary. She was raised in the Lonsdale area and married Elmer Barta on November 15, 1943, in Lakeville. After high school graduation she worked as a lab technician, a secretary, and also at the family business, Barta Refrigeration, for many years. She was a volunteer with the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. Ruth loved to play bridge and travel to warmer places in the winter. She is survived by her husband; five children Kathleen (Wayne) Hines, Shorewood, Timothy (Kathy) Barta, Los Angeles, CA, Thomas (Luviminda) Barta, Honolulu, HI, Bruce Barta, Lakeville, and Steven Barta, Colorado Springs, CO; seven grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son Dennis; her parents; and a sister Patricia (Ted) Farrington. A memorial service was held Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 11 a.m., at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague, with the Rev. Dr. Steven Trewartha and Tim Barta officiating. Visitation was held at the Bruzek Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m.
