Scott County has plans under way for safety training facility

Patrick Fisher, Staff Writer

Scott County is now in the design phase for a new Regional Public Safety Training Facility that would serve the county and all of its cities.

Rob Boe, retired chief deputy with the Scott County Sheriff's Office, has been assisting with the project to create a place where safety personnel can train.

That includes the police and fire departments and emergency medical services located in Scott County's different communities. The facility is to include a place where traditional classes can be taught, as well as a shooting range for police to do target practice and a tower that fire departments can use for drills. Planning for the facility began about three years ago, when firefighters and police from different departments approached the county about a place to train.
