Sharon Backlin, 71
Sharon Louise Backlin, 71, of Bloomington, formerly of New Prague, died Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina.
Sharon was born in Minneapolis on October 8, 1939, a daughter of Robert and Eleanor Sandhoff. She was raised and attended school in Bagley, living with her grandparents William and Josie Griffis. She enjoyed baking, and never missed a good sale at the malls. She was always in charge and kept everyone in line.
She is survived by her husband Sigfred; four daughters Marcie (Dan) Turville, Susan (Brad) Owens, Cathie (Andrew Altman) Pedersen and Christine Pedersen; grandchildren Mike (Hannah Brandts) Owens and Denay Owens, Melissa (Ben) Hanson and Matt Howie, Sadie and Henry Pedersen, and Max, Sam and Josie Altman; four stepchildren Mark, Robert and Susan Backlin and Sally (Vern) Lowe; step-grandchildren Sarah and Crystal DeGroat, Laura and David Backlin and Aaron (Mayte) Overlid; step-great-grandchildren Kevin and Salina Kurtz, Brianna and Emily Overlid and Jayden DeGroat; her mother Eleanor Jannusch; sisters Brenda Landin and Joan Irvine; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a sister Diane Nix; daughter-in-law Judith Lombeida; and son-in-law Gary Anderson.
A private family graveside service was held on Wednesday, May 25, at 1 p.m., at Lake Crystal Cemetery.
