Shed destroyed by fire on Monday night

A Monday night fire destroyed a shed at the residence of Arnie Tupy, 123 Woodbury St. SW just south of New Prague.

The New Prague Fire Department was called at approximately 11 p.m. said Fire Chief Jim Becker. Flames had engulfed the detached structure. While the department quickly had the fire under control, several pieces of equipment were destroyed, including a tractor and lawn mower.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries while fighting the fire, experience back spasms.

To get at smoldering pieces underneath the structure, firefighters had to cut pieces of the shed away. The department was on the scene until about 12:30 a.m. to make sure the fire was out. Also at the scene was the Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office.
