Shimek, McLoone headed to state track and field meet
The New Prague Trojans had two girls qualify for the State Class AA track and field meet, which will be held Friday and Saturday, June 9 and 10, at Hamline University in St. Paul.
Senior Ashley Shimek placed second in the 100- meter hurdles in a time of 15.75 seconds and sophomore Aidan McLoone traveled 35 feet, 5.75 inches in the triple jump, also placing second.
The Trojans just missed having a third qualifier. Catie Skaja was edged out at the tape in the 400 meters. She placed third in 59.68.
New Prague placed seventh overall in the meet, thanks to a number of solid performances.
