Shirley Trnka, 72

Shirley M. Trnka, 72, of Montgomery, died Saturday, May 29, 2010, surrounded by her family. 

Shirley was born on Christmas morning, December 25, 1937, at Webster, a daughter of Phil and Florence (Novotny) Haefs. She attended school in Rosemount and married Clarence S. Trnka on June 23, 1959, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rosemount. Following their marriage, they moved to Montgomery. Shirley was employed by Munsingwear, The Torchlight Supper Club and Casey's Convenience Store. She was a member of Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery.

She is survived by children Cynthia (Larry) Vollmar, Lakeville, Michael Trnka, Montgomery and Deborah (Tim) Barnett, New Prague; a brother Glen Haefs, Rosemount; seven grandchildren Tamara Jackson, Jennifer Vollmar, Christopher Barnett, John Trnka, Matthew Vollmar, Jordan Trnka and Maggie Trnka; two great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and several sisters and brothers-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sisters Lorraine Nash, Elsie Valek and Irene Sundae; brothers Phil Haefs and Dale Haefs; and daughter-in-law Tanya Trnka.

Funeral services were held at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery on Saturday, June 5, at 3 p.m.

Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.   

Visitation was held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Arrangements were with Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery.
