Sign ordinance to be suspended next year

Patrick Fisher, Staff Writer

New Prague will suspending its sign ordinance for one weekend next year, following complaints of signs being removed during the community's City-wide Garage Sale last month.

The New Prague City Council recently approved of the move. City Administrator Mike Johnson presented the proposal after the city received complaints about police officers who removed signs residents had put up for the sales.

Among the city and state laws for signs is that they can be put on private property with permission. New Prague's zoning ordinance states that signs not posted by authorized government officials are prohibited within the public right-of-way
