After 58 years of service to New Prague and to Queen of Peace Hospital, Sister Catherine McInnis OSB is retiring. Her official retirement date is October 4.
Sister Catherine was one of eight Benedictine sisters from St. Benedict's Convent in St. Joseph who arrived in New Prague to open the new Queen of Peace Hospital. She was then known as Sister Alverna, and was 28 years old and was charged with setting up the business office at the hospital.
Sister Catherine ran the business office for 32 years, and was also in charge of medical records and social services. She has served the last seven years in the hospitals' pastoral care department.
In 2007, Sister Catherine was honored as grand marshal for the Dozinky Parade of Farm Pride.
