Slow start sinks Trojan girls

A slow start was the difference as the New Prague Trojan girls hockey team lost to Shakopee 3-0 Friday, Feb. 9, in the first round of the Section 2AA playoffs. 

Shakopee outshot the Trojans 6-1 over the first five minutes and scored two early goals to take command. New Prague closed the gap in shots by the end of the first period and outshot the Sabers in the second, but they were unable to cut into the lead. Shakopee added another goal midway through the third period. 

Other first round Section 2AA scores: 

Eden Prairie 4, Bloomington Jefferson 0

Prior Lake 2, Holy Family/Waconia 1

Minnetonka 2, Chaska/Chanhasen 1 (OT)

Semifinals will be Tuesday, Feb. 13, at Braemar Arena in Edina.

6 p.m. Eden Prairie vs. Prior Lake

8 p.m. Minnetonka vs. Shakopee

Championshi game is Friday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. at Braemar Arena.
