Smith qualifies for second state speech meet

New Prague High School sophomore Madeliene Smith qualified for her second trip to the State Class AA speech meet, which will be held Friday, April 17, at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter.

Smith placed third in Creative Expression at the Section 1AA tournament in Northfield Thursday, April 9. Last year she placed first. The top three finishers in each category advance to the state meet.

Smith is the daughter of Larry and Robin Smith of Elko New Market.

Brandon Lord was the only other New Prague student to place. He took fifth in Humorous Interpretation.
