Smooth sailing for presentation of ship replica

History. It can be found in many shapes and forms. On Saturday, April 30, at the New Prague Public Library it came in the form of a replica of a ship.

The replica was of the Bohemia, a cargo sailing ship that set sail in September, 1875, and was on the seas until 1931. The replica was built by Richard Reisdorf of Mankato and was presented to the New Prague Area Historical Society. It will be on display at the library along with historic details about the ship and the building of the replica.

The original Bohemia measured approximately 222 feet by 40 feet by 26 feet and weighed 1,663 tons. The replica is a one-eighth inch to one-foot scale of its namesake.
