A smooth transition

New Prague Area Schools this week is experiencing a smooth transition in the office of superintendent.

Larry Kauzlarich is completing his two-year stint as superintendent. The veteran administrator brought 40 years of administrative experience to the job and helped ease tensions resulting from the abrupt departure of the previous superintendent, Craig Menozzi.

Kauzlarich recognized the situation he faced, with a group of Menozzi’s supporters calling for the resignation of school board members. He quickly won them over and served as a calming influence for the district. He helped the board as they proposed an $857 levy referendum which passed that fall, helping to stabilize the district’s finances. He brought common sense solutions to a number of issues facing the board and all the while advocated on behalf of a strong education delivery system for the students of New Prague.

Tim Dittberner, who served for 10 years as principal at New Prague Middle School, has already moved into the superintendent’s office and officially begins his duties on July 1. He has been an effective administrator and has shown repeatedly that he is a hard worker who fosters cooperation among those he works with.

We thank Larry Kauzlarich for his service to the district and wish him well in his future travels, and we look forward to working with Tim Dittberner as he helps the district move forward.
