Patrick Fisher, Staff Writer

Sno-Ball, New Prague High School’s winter celebration, began with a crowning moment.

Members of the 2006 Sno-Ball Royal Court were crowned during ceremonies Monday evening. The ceremony was held at the high school auditorium.

The week’s events continue through Saturday, Feb. 4, with the annual Sno-Ball dance at the high school gym.

At Monday’s coronation, Aaron Carmouche was named King and Maria Pint was crowned Queen. They were chosen from among 10 senior royalty candidates. Juniors Jake Klehr and Annie Connelly were crowned as Prince and Princess.

Masters of Ceremonies for the evening were sophomores Matt Carmouche and Cami Gysland. They introduced the 2005 king and queen, Andy Shetka and Greta Deutsch, followed by the candidates, and finally the young Duke, Will Forberg and Duchess, Amanda Giesen.

Sophomore Josh Meuwissen sang this year’s Sno-Ball song, The Way You Look Tonight.

The week will continue with activities at the high school and several sporting events. The girls basketball and hockey teams and the adapted floor hockey teams played home games on Tuesday. The boys hockey team is at home on Thursday, while on Friday the gymnastics, wrestling and boys basketball teams all have home games. There were also euchre, chess, 3-on-3 basketball and lightning tournaments scheduled for Wednesday after school.
