Sno-Ball rolls out at high school Monday

Sno-Ball week, New Prague High School's annual winter celebration, starts Monday, Feb. 2, kicking off a week-long series of activities culminating in the Sno-Ball dance on Saturday, Feb. 7, in the high school's gym.

The coronation of Sno-Ball Royalty will take place at 7 p.m. Monday in the high school auditorium. Ten seniors have been chosen as King and Queen candidates and 10 juniors are the Prince and Princess candidates. Vying for King are Luke Bruess, Jesse Cole, Bryant Comfort, Keenan Hunt and Tyler Lapic. Queen candidates are Carla Kes, Clair Kratochvil, Mandy Sirek, Anissa Svoboda and Amanda Wagner. Prince candidates are Austin Bachman, Tyler Bastyr, Alec Bohn, Chase Buthe and Danny Geiger. Princess candidates are Kristin Carr, Jessica Hoffman, Kaitlyn O'Neill, McKenzie Stupica and Ashley Wagner.

The Student Council Volleyball Tournament follows coronation at 7:30 p.m. in the gym.

Each day of Sno-Ball week carries a theme and event. Monday is Rise and Shine Day with students wearing pajamas.

Tuesday is Era Day where classes wear clothing from various historical periods. Seniors are the '80s, juniors are pilgrims, sophomores the '70s, freshman are future and the staff is the '50s. Two home games are that day - the girls hockey team faces Holy Angels at 7 p.m. at the New Prague Area Community Center and girls basketball hosts Northfield at 7:30 p.m. in the gym.

Wednesday is Wacky Tacky Day with clashing clothing. A chess tournament will be held at 2:45 p.m. in room 210.

Thursday is Celeb/ Superhero Day where people can dress as a celebrity or superhero. The wrestling team will face Prior Lake at 7 p.m. in the gym.

Friday is Neon Class Color Day with seniors wearing hot pink, juniors in yellow, sophomores in orange, freshmen in lime green and staff in blue. A pepfest will be held in the gym around 1:50 p.m. There are three home games that evening, with gymnastics facing Farmington at 6:30 p.m. at the New Prague Gymnastics Club, boys basketball hosting Farmington at 7:30 p.m. in the gym and boys hockey taking on Hutchinson at 7 p.m. at the community center.

Saturday's dance from 8 to 11:30 p.m. in the gym wraps up the week.
