The TCU Softball Team ended its short regular season at its first playoff game with a loss to St. Peter on Tuesday, May 21.

Titan Coach Carol Lilla said it was a good game, despite the loss.

The Titans started off scoring on a run in the first with a double by Coley Selly who moved to 3rd on Chelsey Walerius' bunt and scored on a sacrifice fly by Amber Brokl.

The Titans then held the lead until St. Peter scored in the 3rd to tie the game.

It stayed that way until the top of the of the 6th inning when Selly got a single, moved to 2nd on a sacrifice bunt by Walerius, moved to 3rd on a passed ball, and scored on a fielder's choice by Brokl.

The Saints returned in the 6th with 4 runs on an error and then 3 straight hits.

"We did not hit the ball very well,” the Titan coach said.

Coley Selly led the team, going 2 for 3 and scoring both runs. Amber Brokl went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Getting a hit were Dani Angileno, Sarah Holicky and Jenna Bednar.

Hannah Montreuil was the losing pitcher, allowing 9 hits and 5 runs in 6 innings.

The team ended up 7 - 8 on the season, after a compressed season playing 15 games on only eight dates.

“This was the strangest softball year I have ever coached,” Lilla said. “We lost playing six more games due to the weather, three from our tournament and three non-conferences and the inability to find makeup dates that worked for everyone.  The girls worked hard and stayed focus even though we were inside the majority of the season.”
