Softball loses doubleheader

The Tri-City United softball team was out-gunned by Norwood Young America in a doubleheader played April 25 at NYA. Game scores were 10-1 and 7-1.
In the first game, Hannah Montreuil was on the mound for TCU and went the distance, allowing nine hits while striking out one batter.
Titan coach Carol Lilla said Montreuil gave up two runs in the top of the first inning after two outs, both coming on home runs. “We got two runners on in the bottom, but were unable to get them across,” coach commented. “In the top of the fourth, we committed three errors and gave up three runs, and from there on we were playing catch-up ball. We put a threat together in the bottom of the fifth, but were only able to score one.”
Chelsey Walerius, Amber Brokl, Dani Angileno, Montreuil and Sarah Holicky each had one hit for TCU.
The second game of the twin bill brought the same story and result, NYA getting four runs in the first and four more in the fourth.
Alyshia Angileno pitched the six innings for TCU, allowing seven runs and four walks.
“Offensively, we started the top of the first and had two runners on and again could not get them home,” said coach Lilla. “NYA scored four runs in that first inning on two hits, two walks and an error. The Titans scored their only run in the fourth inning on two walks, a sacrifice bunt by Jenna Bednar and excellent base running by Dani Angileno. We simply did not hit the ball well at all today.”
Leading hitters for the Titans were Coley Selly with two hits and Amber Brokl one.
